Ageing buildings, a change of use or new cracks call for a proper investigation. We assess the structure, find the cause and design the repair or upgrade.
Assessments
- Structural condition audits, crack monitoring and defect diagnosis
- Dilapidation surveys before and after construction
- Non-destructive testing, reinforcement scanning and carbonation testing
- Load capacity checks for a change of use, new plant or rooftop equipment
Strengthening
- Carbon fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP) for bending, shear and column confinement
- Steel plating, column jacketing and flitch beams
- Underpinning and footing repairs
- Heritage masonry stabilisation and tie-backs
Common questions about strengthening and condition assessment
How do you assess and strengthen an existing building?
We start with a condition assessment, crack survey and testing to understand the structure. Where more capacity is needed, for example for a change of use or rooftop plant, we design strengthening such as CFRP, steel jacketing or underpinning.
Are the cracks in my building a structural problem?
Many cracks are cosmetic and come from shrinkage or seasonal movement. Others point to footing movement or overloading. An inspection tells the difference and what, if anything, needs doing.
